Then came the decorating part, and choosing the colour code for the beddings and curtains etc. Today was the final time I paid a visit to Ikea to get the last of the stuff I needed to complete my room makeover. So everything’s pretty much done and I’m happy with the result, that I am having second thoughts of going back to my place near my U when I resume my studies in Jan. Sighs…. Oh well, looking on the bright side, I get to enjoy my newly revamped room for two months!!

The only thing lacking is the world map that I have yet to frame up. I’ll get to it soon… haha, if you know what soon means

I love the fact that whenever I’m in denim, whether its  skirt, a pair of jeans, a dress or even a jacket, mixing and matching with other clothes and even shoes don’t need much of a hassle. Denim practically goes with anything. haha!

So another thing in my bucket- list is to own lots of denim. haha! Meaning I want all forms of jeans that suit my butt and in many colours, and it’ll be even more blissful if I can later get a job that allows me to go to work in denims/ jeans

Another plus point is that denims go well with anything, whether its a pair of sexy heels, or my favourite loafers, or just simple ankle high boots Enough said eh?

So here’s to denim and jeans!!! You can almost never go wrong with denim

I’m inspired by a very dear friend, and have therefore come up with a bucket list of things to do, while I’m still alive and breathing. I’m thinking of just creating space for 20 things-to-do. Some of the things can be achieved, some are just dreams, some can be fulfilled now, some will take a lifetime to fulfil. It’s gonna be a bucket list of things I want, or wanna do, and hmm, let’s just see what other interesting things creep up my sleeve!! I won’t reveal all twenty things in this one post, instead it’ll take a few weeks, maybe months or years to finish up everything

Here it goes for the current thing that I wanna do that will go into my bucket list, and hopefully I get to do it I’ll try to be as subtle as possible…..

I WANNA SEE STOMP LIVE IN KL !!!! haha, oh well, I tried to be subtle, wasn’t it subtle enough? It has always been my dream to watch STOMP live, and I’ve only seen them on TV before, it was awesomeness !! (is there even such a word? haha) Anyway, this year, their coming to KL, and and AND its very near my birthday, and actually they’ll be here even on my birthday. haha! So I really really hope I get to go this time round. Though I’m still kinda doubtful about the venue. It’s gonna be held in the KL Convention Centre, and the last time I was there for ‘Grease Lightning the Musical’, the sound system was bad… not as good as Istana Budaya. So that’s my only worry.

So here’s to the first wish in my bucket-list!!! Tickets to STOMP!!!

For me, most of the time I blame it on PMS. But then again, if I were to actually sit down and think long and hard, its hardly anything to do with PMS. Yes, PMS makes one more vulnerable and more agitable, coz it sends us ladies on an emotionally, hormonally controlled roller-coaster. (though this only applies to some ladies)

And usually at the moments where I feel so down and out, and sometimes its just so so hard to share with anyone, even the ones closest to you. Well, not that they wouldn’t listen, but just ’cause sometimes we all get busy, the mood isn’t right, the timing isn’t right, and well, usually I just don’t wanna burden anyone with all my troubles or ramblings. I mean who enjoys bombarding people with their troubles and worries???

Its during this moments that I always have my closest mates to count on. Its like telepathy or something. Without me telling them anything, I’ll just receive a text, a tweet, an email and sometimes just a phone call, which makes everything feel a lot better. This always reminds me that I’ve always got good friends around me. I say good friends, as I can always count on them

Recently, I received two little tokens from my two buddies, a small gesture… and honestly, it moved me, though most people would think its nothing, but I think its the awesom-est thing, and such a sweet gesture. Nowadays in this materialistic world, these kinda things are not appreciated anymore. For me, its something old-school, yet it is such a valuable practice that needs to remain amongst us.

For some of you that must be wondering what I’m getting at, well let me just give you some overview about what has been going on with my eyes. Well to be more specific, its my right eye. Since last year, I had problems with it. I had this infection which occurred suddenly out of the blue. (I wasn’t even wearing contact lens yet)

Somehow, the infection created a scratch on my cornea and there was a little part of the cornea that dislodged. The doctor managed to fix it. I’ll not go into details, hence any of my readers start freaking out. However, later on after it healed, or so I thought, and so did the doctor. I was given the green light to wear contact lens- and so I proceeded to do so.

Then, the problems began. Because contact lens stay on yr eyes, when I removed them, it was like a suction and it dislodged that same part of my cornea again. I was on MC for like a week plus, coz I really couldn’t see and was in so much pain. In actual fact, it was so scary.

After that, I never touched my contact lens again and resorted to stick with my glasses- thinking that the problem would not occur again. However, after a few months, the problem occurred again(even without the use of contact lens), and the epithelial layer of the cornea kept either loosening or giving me so much pain that I had to be permanently on eyedrops every few hours a day and eye gel at night before I went to sleep. And the problem kept recurring every few months.

Therefore, when the doctor offered me a permanent solution, I decided to get a procedure done to get rid of the problem permanently. I resorted to PRK surgery. Due to my hectic schedule in University and in church-related things, I chose the date which I thought would be the best and most ideal, which was yesterday, 20th August 2011. It seemed like the best date, coz I was getting two weeks off from Uni and exams were just over. I had everything planned out, when to do surgery, recuperate, get my other duties done, revamp my room, visit grandma and the list goes on.

So I got ready yesterday and headed to the clinic to get the procedure done. As I mentioned earlier, sometimes things are beyond our control and we don’t understand why God let things happen, but sometimes its just beyond our control. I waited for my turn a the doctor’s place, and it was certainly a long wait. Then after the doctor did all the final checks that he needed to do, the nurse came in and told the doctor there was some problem with the machine.

So I had to wait some more while the doctor went to check out the machine. Then, he returned and apologized and told me I couldn’t do the procedure as the machine was having problems, and he said he would call me when the machine was fixed. I told him I needed to get the procedure done asap as Uni will begin in two weeks-and its a short semester, so I cannot be missing classes. He said he’ll try his best, as he’s depending on the technician.

Honestly, I was disappointed and quite upset, as I had everything planned. However, looking on the bright side, I thank God that the doctor realized the machine was giving problems, as if he had found out only half way through the surgery, that would be so….. I think you get the picture. To my understanding, maybe God didn’t want me to get it done yet, and well I’m just trusting everything will happen in God’s time. So I’ll keep praying and waiting.

So what was plan B ?? Well, since I didn’t get the procedure done, I decided to begin my room revamp first. And I’m so happy I managed to completed my room walls !! Its all newly painted and looks brand new. Daddy dearest gave me a hand and we both completed painting the room this morning. Thanks Dad !

I know I need to change my curtain rods and my curtains. Can’t stand the flowers anymore. haha! This curtains are going to go to my place in Cheras, and I’ll get new ones for my crib here

My rooms nearly done. Next would be just furniture, curtain rods, curtains and beddings and I’m done with my room revamp !! Not to forget the world map and pictures to decorate my room.

Hmm… I think I need to repaint my door too. After that, my girl friends can come for sleepovers!! Sorry guys, would love to have you over too, but erm… my parents would freak out  :-)

So yea, thats what happened this weekend. Such an eventful weekend. Looking to what’s ahead. Before I end this post I just wanna say thanks to everyone who has been so supportive of my surgery, thanks for your fb posts, texts, calls and even for my bestie who came all the way to the clinic with me, and for our church members that dropped by the clinic. It really meant a lot. Sorry for the postponed surgery, but it your support and prayers meant a lot, really. Thanks !! And do continue praying.

I’ve known my other half for around 18 years now. We’ve known each other since we were kids, our parents got along just fine, and we went to the same kindergarden, were playmates and went to church together.

Most would think that over the years as we grew up that our little friendship would end, and maybe get a little dramatic especially when we reached our teen years- going through crushes, hormonal changes, and searching for our own identities.

During our teen years, there was a time where distance became a huge factor, and with me shifting to a new township and a new church, our relationship was a little strained. We did keep in contact, but it was very minimal.

Then somehow, someday, we started talking again- like we never lost contact ever, It was like we picked up where we left off. Thank goodness we live in an era where technology brings us so many benefits, and distance no longer became a problem.

My other half has been there for me always- for the good times, for the bad times, for happy times, or sad, hitting rock bottom times. Always there to listen, there to advice, always knows when to speak and when to be silent, knows when to scold me, and when to endure my whining.

My other half loves me for who I am. Looks are important- we’re both equally vain, both equally dumb blondes and tech-noobs, yet we stick together through thick and thin. I think I’ve never said it, but thank you so much for being there when I needed a shoulder to cry on. I can’t express how much it meant when you showed up for my grandpa’s funeral. I truly appreciate it. ( Hugss !! )

I’m sure dear reader that you’ve guessed by now, that my other half is not anyone of the opposite gender, but my other half is female. And we’re not lesbians okay, we’re both straight girls that are interested in men, but we’re like sisters. We’re soul sisters, as she always puts it

We have so many things in common, yet there are also things that differentiate us. We both believe in putting God first above everything, We both like to read, we both like cars, we both like coffee and chocolate, we both like hot guys, we both like dogs, etc. BUT at the same time, I’m studying language and she’s studying psychology & international studies, as well as Egyptology. Yes, she’s superwoman !! Doing double degrees at the same time. She’s my hero She loves history, and I can’t recall what I learnt in History. Yet, we still get along just fine.

In other words, I’ve found a true true friend that has stood by me all the way. I’m so blessed to have you as a true friend, and most importantly as a sister. Let’s turn 21 together awesomely- vain and fabulous !! haha!

I started looking through Ikea magazines today, old ones and new ones, you name them I was not only looking at furniture, but I was looking at curtains and beddings- from sheets right to quilts. I started “shopping” virtually, picking out things I liked and marking the pages.

Then, I started counting the $$$. You see, not everyone is born with a golden-silver-bronze or whatever colour spoon in the mouth, whereby everything is given when requested, or finances are easier. I’m brought up in a middle income family, and being the ‘adult’ I am supposed to be, it also applies financially. Extra things I want, its all from my own pocket. Therefore, careful consideration has to be taken to thought before spending my hard-earned money. (Yes, I work part-time)

I even looked at lighting, and went back to my room looking at what else can be thrown out, so that I don’t have all the junk in my room. Then I started pondering on the colour I would paint my walls, and after staring at the calendar- I realized I can probably finish my room by the end of the month !! Yay ! Minus the beddings and curtains. I’ll get the major stuff like the lighting, walls and furniture done first.

Then comes the dilemma of stuff to hang on the wall. I’ve decided not to put borders on my walls, but now is to think what to put on my walls. I really want to put up my world map, and the frame of dog pictures that I created Then, I would have no place for the jigsaw puzzles I have. Anyway, those details can be added on later.

What I’ve discovered is my taste has matured, and I dare say I have good taste, and good colour coordination. Must have rubbed off on me, after working on various projects over the years with my beloved aunt

That’s what my room looks like currently. For some prior knowledge, this was originally my bro’s room. He tied the knot, and has a place of his own now. My old room was turned into a study room, and I inherited his room.

I know my curtains are super girly, mind you, I didn’t choose ‘em. And the circles on the walls, are all my bro’s. So, am so gonna make my ‘statement’ in this room

I’ve got shoe fetish (don’t even bother asking how many pairs of shoes I have), most of the time I buy shoes then I don’t wear them. I only wear my few favourite ones.

Besides that, I’ve got bag fetish. I have loads of bags, you name it: sling bag, bag pack, small handbag, clutches, big handbag, cloth bags, synthetic leather bags, sporty bags, laptop bags (yes, I have more than one laptop bag) etc… I’ve already given away so many bags, and there are still so many!

Now I’ve come out of the state of denial, and I’m publicly admitting that I have another fetish, which is furniture and revamping. I somehow love furniture shopping, and revamping my room. I just went to Ikea last weekend, and I was like a kid in a candy-store. I spotted new furniture that I would like in my room, and the best part is, its all on SALE !!! and its all white ! Wooohhooo !!! Now is to figure out how am I to ask parents to get me new furniture. They’ll probably say its not a need… sighs.

In the meantime, I’m going to rearrange the current furniture in my room, and see how things go. Maybe its also and attempt to prove that I need that new set of furniture

Also, I’m going to change the colour of my room walls. Daddy dearest painted two of the walls a nice cream colour already, but now I’m left with the other two walls, which will most likely be blue in colour Still, I haven’t decided what shade of blue I’d like, and what kinda patterns I’m gonna do on the wall.

I also worked on this massive photo-montage and framed it nicely yesterday. Next is to see how am I to get the world map up on the wall. I have a nice world map that has yet to be framed and mounted on the wall. (I got it as a present for my 18th birthday, and have yet to hang it up- talk about procrastination !!)

So here’s the goal to complete my room revamp, and this time its a major revamp, before the end of the year !!

I promise I’ll flood the blog with pictures of the process of revamping, and the finished product of it!

Yes, I’m going on the tech-craze again. I’m looking at a Macbook Air, and maybe a smartphone. Actually I’m looking more towards getting a new phone. I’m either gonna get so mad with my current Sony phone that I myself will drown it in water, or I’ll just not use any phones. haha, I think the latter part is kinda hard to do

Yes, my Sony phone decided to go on its own rampage again, happily deleting all my songs and photos and videos, all I have are pathetic ringtones which came with the phone. Now whenever my phone rings, I take a while to realize its my phone, and I even got annoyed the other day, wondering who’s using that irritating Sony Ericsson ringtone, and then realized it was my own phone. Talk about embarrassment !!!

So I’m looking at 3 phones that I’m interested in. My target is to buy ‘em during my birthday. haha, birthday present to myself !! Well, its okay to treat yourself once in a while, no ?

So what do ya’ll think ?? I can’t decide, and as you can see, it’ll be impossible to buy all three, and I don’t need three either. Price wise they’re all above 1000, so its all serious money. Specs wise I’m okay with all of it, just thought maybe get some feedback from ppl that are more techy than I am. Coz I’m seriously not a techy person.

Oh well, I guess that’s all for now. Hope to hear some input from you ppl.

Being a leader is never easy. Being a leader means having the capability to lead, being able to speak your thoughts, hear your team’s thoughts, work together, feel together, pray together and lead everyone in the right direction. It also means that the responsibility of the whole group is on your shoulders. You take every bit if responsibility, and when things go haywire or turn sour, being a leader, one has to step up and face the consequences.

This is not something quoted, neither is it right, and whether or not its true I can’t vouch for it. This comes from the perspective of being a leader from the Christian perspective. However, I do know that this is what I feel and what I see from my experience. So what are the heartbreaks of a leader ?

1. When the team does not have the same purpose or objective

2. When all that is expected is the end/ final product, and everything in between (the little things that we often brush-off thinking its not important during the journey to the end product) is ignored

3. When a team member becomes too much of a team player and not a team member that initiates

4. When the team loses the main focus, which is God

5. When programs and activities become more important than God

6. When disrespect occurs in the team

7. When pulling of rank occurs

8. When a team member loses his/her commitment

9. When one of the team members are hurt, by the team or even by external factors

10. When criticisms are made without suggestions of resolvement or improvement

Honestly, I feel utterly disappointed and such a failure as a leader. I feel I’ve let my team down, in the sense that I could have spoken out more when I needed to, instead of swallowing everything. I could have defended my team member when attacks were happening, I could have made so many things better, but instead I overlooked things. I allowed the workload to be on one team member that in the end became so tired out, but was still so faithful despite everything. To top up everything and make things worsen than it already is, words of bitterness, spite, anger, discontent and in some ways hurt were exchanged during a meeting where the purpose was to evaluate and improve.

I feel so useless as a leader, to allow my ‘sheep’ to be put on the line. I felt so defenseless, I was speechless, I didn’t know how to react, I didn’t know how to handle situations. I feel so so lost. I feel so alone.

We often hear and say that we should not conform to forms of this world, but many times we fail to do so. Unconsciously we become sucked into the norms and formalities of the world, and God is put behind us, and not on top of our list. This is only something minor, and as a leader I already feel so much hurt and pain. Imagine how God feels every time we disobey Him, every time we turn from Him, every time we go astray, every time we hurt Him. As our Shepherd I can say he experiences this in vast amounts and yet He still loves us.

God, I feel so unworthy. Help me Lord, resolve issues and heal the hurts. Grant wisdom and strength and let your love and peace cover us. Amen.
